Episode 1 - “Sex and the City”
Hello, soon-to-be faithful readers. The pilot episode begins with what I assume to be the trademark narration that Carrie Bradshaw brings to every episode. The whole point of this episode is to not only introduce the ladies of the series (Miranda is reminiscent of a slightly more attractive Dave Foley) but to introduce the tone. Women are important and their contributions to life should be acknowledged. Is that true? I’m guessing by the end of Season 6 I’ll know the answer. The episode focuses on Carrie exploring the notion of women having sex like men. By having no emotional attachment after love making, women show they have power too. Adorable.
Who are the non-Carrie women? Before you say, “bitches,” let’s really look at them. At least one of them would do the same for you. Charlotte is a kind woman that does not buy into the emotionless sex as she believes that love is possible. Dave Fo-Miranda is an intelligent women that wants power and claims that love is a myth. Samantha is a whore with hopefully something underneath the whore-ness.
Also, we get to meet Big. I would be foolish to act like I don’t know Big is a huge part of the series. His name gets more pun usage in the movie trailer than the retarded “Get Carrie’d Away.” Big is presented as a respectable guy that loves women and tries to show Carrie that emotional attachment is a good thing.
I’ve made it through one episode and I feel pretty good. I feel like I try to analyze people and study behavior in life. I’m watching this, aren’t I? Since this is the case, for this episode, I am a Carrie.
